The Chacha Chaudhary Family
How reading comics, helped me in parenting and led to fun conversation during lunch :-)
I was taking a stroll with my kiddo when we started talking about -Chacha Chaudhary and other comic characters. Suddenly, I told him - From now on, I will call you Raka; he looked at me puzzled, thinking as I am the naughty person, I named him! I said no, it is not because of that; it is because of a similarity that Raka doesn't comb his hair and even you don't.
Trust me [if you are yet to be a parent], and if you are a parent, you would know - how at times, one feels like a tape recorder, saying the same thing repeatedly, and it's ignored again and again.
The next day, he was about to go to play, and this time I didn't say to comb his hair but called him Raka. It worked like a charm; he quickly went and combed his hair. Wow, that works! Two magic alphabets and work is getting done. Yohooooooo….
I was on cloud nine :-)
Then this was repeated for a couple of days, and religiously, he used to comb his hair. Then one day during lunch, we again started talking about Chacha Chaudhary and the characters when I asked - which character does Dada, Dadi, Papa, and mummy are from the chacha Chaudhary comics?
He thought - Chacha would be dadu, he answered, as he has a white beard and dadu as well. We agreed.
Dadi would be Chachi, as Dadi cooks food, and so does Chachi! It made sense.
Then it was our turn, and we were short of characters. The only lead character left now was Sabu. So he said - Papa is Sabu. But I countered, see - when Sabu gets angry, a volcano erupts on Jupiter na, but Papa hardly gets angry. He agreed.
Then he picked some of the comics he had from his cupboard to look for apt characters and said, mummy, you are Dhamaka Singh. I asked - Is it because I am always with guns? He responded no, mama - you have curly hair, and so does Dhamaka Singh. Lol. Such an innocent response.
This reminded me, when I was a kid me and my brother named our mother as Doga. lol. I do not recollect the reasoning behind it, but we used to call her Doga. So, in a way what you do is what comes back to you. and this is called as Karma. ;-)
And finally, he found the apt character of Papa as well - Papa, you are Rocket. I laughed. How can you see similarities between Papa and Racket? In one of the stories, he said that Chacha asked Raaket to go and run for 2-3 km, and Papa also does the same; he also runs!
Haha!
And we couldn't agree more :-)
